Bucknell University Barnes & Noble Bookstore

A 1942 hardware store was renovated to become the new bookstore for Bucknell University. Preservation of the existing building was more economical, a greener alternative to new construction, and a strengthening of the university’s position in the community as a good steward of Lewisburg’s Historic District. Program improvements for Barnes & Noble included the installation of a new kitchen, café and dining area, retail spaces, shipping and receiving spaces, atrium skylights, storefront, canopy, offices and restrooms.
