This project included complete renovations to an existing historic YMCA in Wilkes-Barre, PA. The lower floors were renovated for the YMCA; while the upper four floors (second through sixth) were renovated to provide approximately 44 units of student housing for Wilkes College. The work included careful rehabilitation of historic character defining features throughout the lower levels of the building and the conversion of more modern living spaces on the upper floors.

As a historic tax credit project, the building provided the unique challenge of inserting new student spaces into various existing spaces, including the racquet courts originally used by the YMCA and by the conversion of the original swimming pool for the fitness center. The total area of the completed building is approximately 97,000 square feet. This project, developed by partners Radnor Property Group and the YMCA contributed to the continuing rejuvenation of downtown Wilkes-Barre.
